My Experience

Background & Expertise

Educator/Special Events Coordinator, Midway Village Museum

  • Added all duties of Special Events Coordinator, an additional full time position, beginning in March 2020-present. 

  • Manage budget for both Programs and Special Events Departments (about $200,000.)

  • Develop, plan, and manage up to 30 yearly events for 13-acre historic site.

  • Adapt programs for pandemic restrictions. 

  • Train interpretive staff for 30 events each year.

  • Create and Manage Civil War Days program for 5,000+ students over four days each spring

  • Manage 25-30 paid and volunteer costumed interpretive staff

  • Care for costume collection for interpretive staff for WWI, WWII, Civil War and late Victorian periods

  • Create over 400 hours of summer camp programming each summer

  • Hire and train interpretive and camp staff

  • Create and lead boy and girls badge workshops

  • First aide trained

  • Update all programs including tours, presentations, and outreach trunks to match new Illinois State Standards

Director, Carl and Mary Koehler History Center

  • Planned and executed all fundraising events, exhibits, and programs

  • Approved, and issued all accounts payable

  • Responsible for effective management of all staff, volunteers, and interns

  • Created, managed, and oversaw the annual budget, external audit, and payroll

  • Attended and facilitated all Board Committee meetings-finance, program, operations, fundraising, etc.

  • Wrote grant applications and report progress on projects

  • Managed donations, memberships and collections in Museum Database

  • Cultivated public connections and potential donor engagement

  • Provided monthly reports to the Board of Directors and prepare annual report

  • Coordinated all communications directed at the Board of Directors from staff, volunteers, residents, or other organizations

  • Wrote and produced quarterly newsletter

  • Created educational materials for exhibitions and tour groups

  • Scheduled programs and tours for various ages and a range of topics
